A specialist SEN school for secondary aged boys with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs

LWS understands the importance of providing students with healthy food.

We also recognise the link between food and levels of concentration and achievement, which is why we provide our students with a range of options when it comes to food and meals.

The School offers:
  • A free Breakfast Club from 9:00 – 9:15 am every day.
Where students are provided with cereal, toast as well as refreshments.
  • A free break time toast available at morning break- 11.10 – 11.25.
  • Students can also purchase additional nutritious and substantial snacks during afternoon break by using their Vivo rewards points.
  • Our school HC3S chef follows guidelines issued by the government through the Food Standards Agency and provides good quality, nutritious and tasty lunch time meal options. The food always reflects a variety of tastes and cultures and a vegetarian option is provided.
Academy Lunch Menus

If you would like a copy of the most up to date lunch menu then please do contact the school office.

For those parents/carers providing a packed lunch, you too have the opportunity to provide a healthy and nutritious meal for your child. A lunchbox that contains:

  • A freshly made sandwich
  • One or two pieces of fruit
  • A water based drink

This is far better for your child than one which contains:

  • Crisps
  • Chocolate biscuits
  • Sweets
  • Sugary or Energy Drinks
  • Meat products such as sausage rolls, individual pies or fattier meats like corned beef.

Sandwiches, wraps and bagels are all good sources of nourishment; salads and noodle based lunches are energy giving and have a strong nutritional value.

Free school meals:

Depending on your circumstances, your child might be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit

Children who get paid these benefits directly, instead of through a parent or guardian, can also get free school meals.

If you believe you entitled to claim for free school meals please visit https://www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/hants to submit your application.

Once your application has been processed Hampshire county council will notify LWS.
