COVID-19 Update – guidance from Monday 23rd March

The Government has now published the guidance on School closures due to the CV-19 outbreak. The Government is clear that above all else that ‘if it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be.’ and If children can stay safely at home, they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading’.

The Government has also outlined further key principles to be applied which can be found here – https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision

Where parents/carers are unable to achieve this, then school provision may be available for those children who have an EHCP; have a social worker assigned to them; or, is the child of an identified ‘key worker.’ If you are unsure if you are a ‘Key worker’, please refer to the Government guidelines, which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/closure-of-educational-settings-information-for-parents-and-carers/closure-of-educational-settings-information-for-parents-and-carers). For those children who remain at home, work will be made available through a variety of methods including – telephone, online and work packages.

Schools are expected to follow Government guidance. Most importantly, those students that do attend a school site are expected to respect and follow social distancing expectations (same as adults) to ensure the safety of others.

A member of school leadership staff will be calling you to discuss your child’s provision from Monday 23rd March.
