A specialist SEN school for secondary aged boys with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs

The overall aim for PE at LWS is to provide fun, engaging and challenge opportunities for the pupils to enjoy and provide the opportunities to progress further and encourage lifelong participation in sport.
Physical Education is an important component throughout school by providing the opportunities for students to lead a healthy lifestyle with the inclusion of regular physical activity; students maintain fitness, develop muscular strength and improve cardiovascular health. In PE, students will also develop motor skills, self-confidence, as well as relieve stress.
Our high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in both competitive and non-competitive physical activities. In KS3, we learn about sports e.g. Football, Badminton, Tchoukball, Trampolining, Ultimate Frisbee, Dodgeball and many more. Whilst developing the knowledge of sports, physically challenging the pupils and apply strategies in competitive situations.
In KS4, students will study NCFE Level 1 in Health and Fitness. This qualification further develops the students understanding of a health active lifestyle. They will produce a personal fitness programme as well as developing coaching and leadership skills. This qualification will provide pathways for higher level courses at college e.g. V Certs in Health and Fitness, Level 2 in Fitness Instructing and Level 2 in principles of coaching sports.
