A specialist SEN school for secondary aged boys with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
LWS Academy is a specialist secondary school for boys with identified social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
It is often the case that our students struggle to manage social interactions, or find it hard to regulate their emotions and maintain positive mental wellbeing. We work hard with families and students to ensure that students gain the necessary social skills and emotional strategies that ensure they are as prepared as possible for life after Year 11.
We are driven by our ethos: Opportunity, Encourage, Achieve. All students are recognised as individuals and we tailor opportunities to suit. All students are encouraged and provided with necessary skills to make as many positive choices as possible in all aspects of life, not just traditional education. We support students to achieve the very best version of themselves and a suitable destination post 16.
In order to promote positive behaviour choices, we embed the LWS Values in all aspects of day to day schooling. The LWS Values are respectful, responsible and ready to learn and these were developed in consultation with students and staff. The LWS Values ensure students are able to develop the skills necessary and the moral compass to make a valued contribution to society.
